Your "Green Board" Tips

Thank you for sharing your green ideas with other library users on the CPL Green Board and helping to make CPL's Earth Week events such a success. For those of you who missed the board or are just curious about what others in the community are doing to become more green (like teaching their kids to be green and carpooling to work), read on...

Green Board Tips:

Don’t use Styrofoam cups.

Save food scraps for gardening.

Ride a bike instead of driving your car.

Turn off the lights when you leave the room.

Donate clothes.

Turn off the faucet when you are not using it (while you are brushing your teeth or washing dishes).

Use canvas bags. If you do have plastic bags reuse them.

Plant trees.

Take short showers.

Use energy efficient light bulbs.

Vermicompost: use worms to recycle food waste.

Teach your children to live green.

Unplug electronics and appliances when not in use.

Make quilts/tote bags from old clothing or baby clothes.

Find a carpool buddy.

Use eco-friendly organic fertilizer (slow-release nitrogen, no-phosphorous).

Turn off water heater over night.

Buy fuel efficient vehicles and appliances.

Take shorter showers.

Wash your clothes in cold water and hang to dry.

Use 100% natural household cleaning products.

Buy a reusable water bottle and fill with tap water or filtered water and stop using disposable water bottles.

Use your library instead of buying books.
