International Astronomy Day is observed on a Saturday near the first quarter moon between mid-April and mid-May. This year it will fall on May 2nd. Great biographies on the most famous astronomers are available at the library, as well as many informative books on outer space. March 2nd marks the 105th anniversary of Dr. Seuss's birth. Local retail stores, such as Meijer, are having birthday events for him this Saturday, February 28th, but his beloved books are always available at the library.

Gaiman's Graveyard Grabs the Newbery!

Noboby Owens, or Bod, is a 'normal' boy fated to be raised in a graveyard by ghosts and a guardian who is neither dead nor alive. Magical, terrifying, and filled with gripping adventures, The Graveyard Book is another supernatural masterpiece by Neil Gaiman and was justly awarded the 2009 Newbery Medal. Coraline, another creepy  Gaiman concoction, was made into a 3D step-motion animated film and is now showing at theaters. Check it out!
