Desperately Seeking Michigan? You'll Have to Be Patient...

Did you unsuccessfully try to log onto the new Seeking Michigan web site yesterday?  If yes, you're not alone.

The site, a collaboration between the Archives of Michigan and the Library of Michigan, features a growing collection of unique historical information that – through digitized source documents, maps, films, images, oral histories and artifacts – creatively tells the stories of Michigan’s families, homes, businesses, communities and landscapes.

Due to the increased volume (a whopping 2600 % according to Randy Riley, genealogy specialist at the Library of Michigan), the site's servers were overwhelmed. As a result, the staff is currently transferring the information to new servers and hope to have it up and running by the end of the week.
