The Canton Public Library has partnered with the University of Michigan’s Technical Communications department to bring a series of fun and exciting STEM workshops to the library. These workshops will present a wide range of topics in the science, technology, engineering and math disciplines. Each session has been designed and developed for kids aged 11 – 13 by engineering students at the university. Registration is required for each session.
The IQ Challenge - A mix of Jeopardy and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, this game will challenge students with fun and fast paced math questions. Saturday April 1, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
Marbley's Roller Coaster - Come learn about the conservation of energy and use engineering principles to build a roller coaster that will help Marbley the Marble land safely in a cup. Sunday April 2, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
SoundVisualizer Workshop - Learn about sound waves and harmonic motions. Participants will have the opportunity to build and use a sound visualizer that uses a laser and mirror to create crazing changing patterns. Saturday April 8, 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
The Treasure Hunt - Learn about physics and engineering with five pirate themed tasks that must be completed in order to open the treasure chest and get the pirate's gold. Sunday April 9, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
