Canton Resident One Stop Open House

To help current and new residents integrate into our community, the Canton Newcomers & Neighbors Club has created a Canton Resident One Stop Open House on Wednesday, October 15 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Canton Public Library.

A lineup of Canton leadership organizations and Canton Township direct service departments will be on hand to answer questions and provide more information. This is your chance to connect to the clerk’s office to start the process of registering to vote and the treasurer’s office to purchase a recycling bin. The police department will provide safety tips and Leisure Services will have information on the free, quality of life aspects of living in our beautiful township.

From Skeptic to Believer: Inside Paranormal Investigation

Local authors Kathleen Tedsen and Beverlee Rydel from Haunted Travels of Michigan will share details of their personal paranormal research. Together, these two sisters have traveled tens of thousands of miles around Michigan in search of the state's most haunted locations. Beginning as skeptics, what they have personally witnessed and recorded challenged their beliefs. Join us Tuesday October 21 at 7:00 PM.

Gluten Free Support Group - October Session Cancelled

Have you wondered why everyone is talking about being "gluten-free" ? Are you starting the journey of being gluten-free or have you been without gluten for a long time? This class/support group is for you. Dr. Cynthia Shaft-Toll DC will share health benefits of the gluten-free lifestyle : how and where to shop for gluten-free items, how to and where are the best gluten-free restaurants, how to cook for holidays and special events. Guest speakers also will be presenting at different months. Some sample gluten-free food will be available and we hope for the group to share their best recipes as well.  Group meets October 14 at 7:00 PM

Pinterest Live - Trick or Treat Edition

Join us for another edition of our popular Pinterest Live program series.  This time around we tackle Halloween treats for your favorite ghosts and goblins. Staff librarian and crafting enthusiast Laura Fawcett will host as participants roll up their sleeves and attempt to recreate these three "Pins".  All supplies will be provided and registration is required.  Program will take place Thursday October 2 at 7:00 PM. 

Movie Madness: The Fault in Our Stars

Join us Tuesday September 16 at 4:00 PM for an after school screening of one of this year's most anticipated films: The Fault in Our Stars. Be sure to bring some snacks, a comfy blanket or pillow and of course your own box of tissues. No registration is required, but space is limited. This film is rated PG-13.

Have you hit a snag with your eReader? Patrons in need of one-on-one assistance can come in on Fridays from 10:00am to 11:00am to receive basic or extended help with borrowing or downloading books to your electronic device. No registration required

Women's Small Business Expo

The Canton Public Library is hosting a Women’s Small Business Expo on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. This event will provide a venue for local entrepreneurs, artisans and small business owners to market themselves, paired with educational sessions on topics like finance, marketing and the library's Business Resource Center.

To be considered for the Women's EXPO, complete and return the vendor application by Monday October 6, 2014. Space is limited. For questions, contact Business Resource Librarian Amy Lee.

Connect Your Summer 2014

Join us Monday June 16 for our 2014 Connect Your Summer reading program Opening Day! Patrons of all ages are encouraged to stop in and learn about this year's badges and all of the exciting ways to earn them. Staff will be on hand to help you get started and explain all the ways to win exciting prizes. Fun activities will also be happening throughout the day:
  • Decorate your own tote bag to carry your summer reading library haul.
  • Try to guess the number of lollipops in our jumbo guessing case. 
  • Make and take your very own bookmark.
  • Have your picture taken in our special CYS photo booth.
  • Enjoy a cookie compliments of Max & Erma's (while supplies last)

All activities will take place from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm in the Community Room WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.
