Craftapalooza

Join us Thursday August 8, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Community Room for a crafting extravaganza! This event will feature a wide range of "crafting stations" to help you earn your "Be Creative" badge. Instructors will be on hand to help with papercrafts, hair accessories and much, much more. Ages 12 and up.

Scholarship Opportunity

Woman’s Life Chapter 827-Chicks 4 Charity will be offering a $500 scholarship(s) for part time students and $1,000 scholarship(s) for full time students to women residing in Canton and the surrounding areas that are looking to transition back into the workforce. Applicants must be attending an accredited Michigan college, university or trade school in the fall of 2013. Preference will be given to women that demonstrate financial need, education/training needs, and those who are involved in the community. National Sandwich Day

Did you know that November 3rd is National Sandwich Day? Legend has it that Englishman John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, created the first sandwich in 1762 by putting meat between two pieces of bread. Holiday Fabric Flower

Join us Wednesday November 28 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the Purple Room as we create poinsettia inspired fabric flowers.  These lovely hand sewn flowers make the perfect hair accessory, pin, or holiday package decoration.  Ages 12 and up.  Registration required

eBook User's Group

Join library staff and other eReader users as we share eBook tips and tricks in an informal environment. Group will meet February 28 at 7:00 PM in Group Study Room A.

Neil Armstrong 1930-2012

Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon has died at the age of 82. Armstrong was the commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft which landed on the moon July 20, 1969. During Armstrong's famous moonwalk he radioed back to earth the now famous phrase "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

Veterans' Summit 2012

The Canton Community Foundation is hosting an educational program for professionals and veterans and their families September 12th and 13th. The two-day summit offers a day for attorneys and advocates to earn continuing legal education credits. The second day is devoted to veterans who will learn about potential benefits will meet directly with benefit representatives.

Marvin Hamlisch 1944-2012

Marvin Hamlisch, award winning film and broadway composer has died at the age of 68. Best known for his broadway hit A Chorus Line, Hamlish also wrote the scores for many famous films including The Way We Were, Ordinary People and Sophie's Choice. His adaptation of Scott Joplin's music for the movie The Sting earned him an Oscar in 1973.
