The literary organization PEN USA said that it would give its Lifetime Achievement Award to Elmore Leonard the prolific crime fiction novelist. In a career spanning 60 years, Leonard has published 43 novels and numerous short stories, creating a distinct literary style that has delighted readers and influenced a new generation of writers. The award will be presented to Mr. Leonard at a ceremony in Beverly Hills on Dec. 2.
