CPL Launches New Website

Welcome to our new website! We made sure that all of the things you love about cantonpl.org stayed, and have added new features, such as RSS feeds, the ability to post your comments, and simplified navigation. We hope our blogs will encourage discussion about and with our community. While a great deal of work and consideration has gone into the design of the new website, we expect to make refinements and roll out new features, and we look forward to hearing from you how we can improve.

I have always loved the Canton library and use the website quite frequently. The one thing I don't like is having to login twice to get to my account. We have so many logins and passwords in our daily use of the net that it is now up to two login? I have a book I keep just for my logins. Unbelievable. I totally understand why the library received its star rating. It deserves it. On the economic side of the library: I have participated in the last two summer reading programs. I was quite startled at the last one in terms of the expensive brochures to track what we are doing. The one was a "hard cover" very expensive to produce item. I think publications is one place that the library could/should economize. Maybe you don't have to eliminate the publications, but use a more economical paper for some of the promotions and newsletters. I am sure hardly anyone will notice and no one will care. The idea is reading - not expensive tracking devices and slick, glossy publications. Nancy Austin Canton resident and fan of the library.

I can see that when we submit a comment, the buttons come up to "preview" and "save". I understand the "preview" part, but the "save" button can be confusing. Why not rename the "save" button as the "submit" button. At least we'd know that our comment has been submitted. Nancy Austin

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed that it's nearly impossible to renew items with the new website layout? I consider myself to be rather tech-friendly, and my husband is also very tech-minded, and we could not find a way to access the books taht we have checked out to renew them. I hope that they library is looking into this, as it took me nearly 10 minutes on the phone trying to renew my items. I was very happy with the old format of the website, as it was very user-friendly. I am not so happy with the "improvements"

To access your Patron Record and review and renew items checked out, link to MyAccount at https://www.cantonpl.org/cpl/register. If you login to MyAccount using the form on the right hand side of the page, you can view materials checked out - without entering your library barcode number - by selecting the "Patron Record" button. You can also bypass MyAccount by selecting "Sign in to Patron Record only", below the MyAccount logon form, and use your real name and library barcode number to access information about materials checked out.
