An Economical Alternative to Faxing
At $1.50 for the first page and $1 per additional page for outgoing domestic faxes (international faxes are $4.95 for the first page and $3.45 per page thereafter), Canton Public Library offers self-serve faxing at reasonable rates. But did you know that in many cases, you can scan and email your document(s) for free — avoiding fax charges altogether? Canton Public Library has flatbed (letter-size) scanners you can use at no cost. Once you have your scanned documents, simply send them to the recipient from your web-based email account from the same computer you used for scanning.
The first step: Ask your recipient if documents can be received via email instead of fax, and if so, ask for the email address. Also ask if there's a preferred format for the documents you'll be attaching to the email. The most commonly accepted formats are pdf and jpeg, both of which can be created with our scanning software. If you need any help, the red-shirt-wearing rovers can assist you.
