International Cooking Contest and Demo

Do you make Grandma's pierogi recipe or Aunt Maria's spaghetti sauce? Cook up your cultural specialties and enter our international cooking contest. Bring your dish and 10 copies of the recipe to share. Prizes will be awarded based on the audience's preferences. Also watch an Indian cooking demonstration and tasting. Family Karaoke

Laughter, Meditation and Gratitude

It is rare that we get the opportunity to learn from a meditation master, but on Thursday, June 2 at 7:00PM, we will have that opportunity. Swami Satya Niranjan, popularily known as respected Bagmarji, and Om Johari will discuss the healthy, psychological and spiritual benefits of laughter. While using laughter as an example of meditation, the pair will show how and why to meditate, to show gratitude and be happy all the time.

Tiger Stadium to Comerica Park

Direct from the Tiger's front office, author Irwin Cohen shares his experiences from the baseball world with a revealing look at baseball inside the office and loaded with personalities. From Tiger Stadium to its demolition to Comerica Park, Cohen will help us celebrate the season and offer his book at half price to attendees.

Frugal Living Series

Professional organizer, Susan Carmody, of the National Association of Professional Organizers and her local company, Perfectly Placed, along with Mary Vangieson, the Wayne County Resource Recovery Coordinator, will give us a head start on Spring cleaning. They will share easy tips on getting organized and recycling in our homes. Bring your old mercury thermometers and replace them with a new digital one. Getting Fiscally Fit

SOFA, The Society of Financial Awareness, will share tips for getting yourself financially fit. SOFA is a volunteer organization of licensed financial planners who donate their time to educate the public on the finer points of making your money grow and work for you. Islam Awareness Week — Muslim Women in Canton

Living As Muslim Women In Canton will feature the daily lives of several professional women, including business owners, doctors, engineers, students, scholars, mothers and more. Join us on March 24 at 7:00PM in the Community Room to hear the accomplishments and challenges of being Muslim in Canton. This program is presented by members of the Muslim Community of Western Suburbs in celebration of Islam Awareness Week.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the talented dancers from O'Hare School of Irish Dance in Plymouth. We'll all be clapping our hands, tapping our toes and feeling very Irish for the evening. The dancers will be followed by an Irish folktale as told by one of our very clever librarians. Faith and Begorrah!

Chinese New Year

Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with crafts, songs, dancing and food. Join us at the library for a fun celebration beginning at 5:00PM with crafts for the kids followed by snacks and entertainment; at 7:00PM for everyone. This should be a great Chinese New Year for everyone. No registration is needed for this February 17th event.
