Check out the first two of our newly arrived Star Wars omnibus comic collections — close to 400 pages of jedi goodness. It's the type of book that just feels good to hold in your hands, and it doesn't hurt that the comics are good too. Rise of the Sith and Menace Revealed give you each a taste of dark jedi and bounty hunters alike. Yeah, you get the familiar good guys thrown in there, like Qui-Gon and Mace Windu, trying to save the day, but be honest, it's the bad guys that have you hooked. It's o.k. I won't tell anyone you've joined the dark side. It'll be our little secret. Take a peek.
Does the anticipation for Iron-Man 2 this summer have you going crazy? Well, tide yourself over with a little Invincible Iron Man: World's Most Wanted. One of the best Iron-man storylines in a long while, Tony Stark, no longer head of S.H.I.E.L.D., is a hunted man on the run. He's trying to wipe his own mind to make sure secrets stay hidden, avoid capture...plus Pepper Potts gets her own Iron-armor. Good stuff; take a peek.
Boys have trouble reading. It's true. Girls totally blow us away at this, I'm ashamed to say. The Michigan Reading Association cites factors such as the need for boys to be more active and the fact that if they don't see other guys reading then they don't think of it as a 'guys' activity. Check out the pamphlet attached to get some tips for getting guys to pick up a book. I'll give you a hint: 'Forcing' them to read isn't on the list. Fathers reading to their sons is.

So, you like ninjas. You're a fan of Naruto. But, you're also a romance junky. Admit it. You also kind of think all the female characters in Naruto are kind of weak. Well, then I've got the perfect thing for you: Tail of the Moon. Strong female lead, shinobi missions, and a love story to round it all out. Or, check out Shinobi Life for a mix of action and romance in even amounts. Hey, there's nothing that says you can't have your ninja and romance fix at the same time. Go ahead.
Check out the latest slew of animated comic book adaptions we've got on the way. Be warned, these videos are a little edgier (and a touch more violent) than your standard Saturday morning cartoon fare, partially because they try to stay truer to their comic book origins. It makes for some good storytelling though. We've got several fan favorites, including Hulk, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Superman / Batman, and Green Lantern.
ALA announced the Youth Media Award winners today.
- Going Bovine by Libba Bray won the Printz
- When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead won the Newbery
- The Lion & the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney won the Caldecott

After a 3 year hiatus, Yukiru Sugisaki has decided to revive her fan favorite manga D.N.Angel! Volume 12 and 13 have just come out. If you haven't read this, now's the perfect time. The story revolves around a middle school student who magically transforms into another person, the thief Dark, whenever he spots the girl he loves. If only she could love him back it would break the curse. Well, things are a lot more complicated than they seem...
In October the UK's Guardian hosted a contest for young readers to turn Terry Pratchett's Nation into a dramatization. The winners have just been announced. I couldn't help thinking that more books should be made into movies by fans... especially because these homemade films are amazing. Take a look at the winners and get the low down on this unusual contest.
Here it is, what you've been waiting for, the new Batman revealed. If you don't know what I'm talking about I'm about to spoil something for you so you might want to stop reading right now. Still there? Batman died. Yeah. Sorry, it's old news now. What you might not know is that everyone who's anyone has come crawling out of the woodwork to take his place. Batman: Battle for The Cowl is the no holds barred fight to see who will become the new caped crusader with pointy ears. Curious? Take a peek.
You need to check out the Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi, the legendary creator of the Flight Anthologies, if you haven't yet. The 2nd book just came out. It's amazing how Kibuishi can convey so much action with just a few scenes. And, the storytelling is top notch. I get the same chills of excitement reading this as when I, say, first started reading Bone. It's that good, and I can't wait for the next one. Take a peek at this all-ages fantasy romp about a girl with a magical amulet and a very unique destiny and you won't be disappointed.
This book may be one of the craziest, most inventive things I've seen lately. Chris Wooding, author of Storm Thief, breaks some new gound with his book Malice. Half of the story is fiction and half is graphic novel, and the main characters travel between the two in a weird, fascinating mix. A few have tried this risky move and failed, but Wooding pulls it off with a story revolving around a comic book that you can go inside if you know the right ritual. Menacing things happen there, of course, once you do... This book is unique, and even has an eye-popping, raised cover image. Just, cool.
O.K. so Halloween is long over and done with, but I couldn't resist. This is just too awesome. Anime News Network, one of the better places to get your anime news, holds an annual contest for pumpkin carving. I just stumbled across these, and they are fantastic. Take a look.
Love the x-men? Love shojo manga? Well, look no further: X-men: Misfits is a wild reimagining of the x-men drawn manga style with a heavy focus on romance. It follows Kitty Pryde at Xavier's school for the 'gifted', an all boys school. I know, your first thought might be "no, no this is blasphemy," but this is meant to be different with familiar characters turned on their heads. If you can accept that, this is actually a fairly entertaining story, and it's interesting how well these two styles mix!
