Inktober is the annual drawing challenge in October for artist of all skill levels. The goal is to work on your drawing skills by completing a drawing every day during the month of October. Here are some resources at Canton Public Library for inspiration and skills to practice. 

Learning to draw in pencil has never been so easy! With Just for Fun: Drawing, aspiring artists and art enthusiasts who have never before picked up a pencil can follow incredibly simple step-by-step instructions and discover how to draw everyday subjects. Each featured subject starts with basic lines and shapes, and slowly progresses with each new step to a fully rendered, completed drawing. 

Written for art students and beginners who want to illustrate for comics and graphic novels, this book provides a thorough grounding in drawing the human form. This comprehensive self-teaching course for illustrators features more than 150 instructive color illustrations.

Banned Book Week is the annual celebration of the freedom to read. Public libraries support intellectual freedom, the right for every individual to both seek and receive information from all points of view without restriction. Hero Hangout: Comics Reading Group

Love reading comics or super heroes? Come join us for Hero Hangout, every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Hero Hangout is a Comic Book Club for ages 7-12 where you choose what to read! Every week we will be sharing, reading, and making comics. Participants are encouraged to bring a comic to share with a group but are not required. 

This program is every 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., no registration required.

Start with DC Universe: Rebirth that launched this epic event and continue the story by reading your favorite DC character's comic. Rebirth is a great starting point for new and old DC fans! Search our catalog or check with a librarian for more DC Rebirth trade paperbacks and digital comics available on Hoopla.

 

Superheroes/Graphic Novel Explore: Explore your DC Rebirth experience by reflecting on what you read, learning more, or digging deeper. What did you like about Rebirth? May the 4th Celebration

Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars AND Star Wars day with our May the 4th be With You Celebration. There will be Star Wars themed crafts, games, and coloring. Dress up as your favorite character and get your picture taken with a Star Wars guest. Drop in between 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm and enjoy crafts while supplies last.
