Hey Kids! Wowzers! I am SO proud of you! Did you know that an incredible 4,798 kids and teens signed up for Summer Reading 2009?!?! And that 2,384 kids and teens finished summer reading and got books from the Scholastic Book Fair sponsored by the Friends of the Library? Thanks Friends! The Adult Librarians told me that over 1000 grown-ups signed up for summer reading and lots of them earned books too. I think you all deserve a pat on the back. Go you!
We should also really say thank you to all the other sponsors of Summer Reading 2009 -- the Detroit Pistons, Jungle Java, Max & Erma's, McDonald's, the Plymouth Whalers, Riverside Arena, Skating Station, Superbowl, Texas Roadhouse, and Zap Zone. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to offer really great prizes this year!
Man, I can't believe that Summer Reading is over! Thank goodness there is the Fun in the Sun Celebration tomorrow. After you've had your fun, stop in at the library and say "hello", cause I love seeing you! And don't forget to come back next year for Summer Reading 2010, Make a Splash @ Your Library! Okay, you deserve an extra big bear hug for all your hard work!
