Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal
This was chorus of a song titled Low Bridge, Everyone Down written in 1905. Constructed between 1817 to 1825, the Erie Canal was the first transportation route between New York City and the Great Lakes. Before modern-day construction equipment, "The Ditch That Made New York Rich," was mostly made on the backs of Irish immigrants. Bond of Union, is a fascinating account of how one of the greatest achievements in U.S. History was built.
