Based on the novel Q & A by Vikas Swarap, the film Slumdog Millionaire built on its positive buzz at the 2008  Toronto Film Festival to become this year's favorite underdog. Nominated for ten Oscars, it tells the story of a poor Mumbai teen's rise to fortune as a contestant on the hit television show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." The ten nominations include Best Picture, Best Original Song, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
