Living Book: Lauren Mitchell

My name is Lauren Mitchell. I am a life-long Christian and current seminary student who has held many different positions in the church over the years. My father and grandfather were also Christian ministers. I have attended both Protestant and Catholic schools in my lifetime and have always attempted to live a faith-filled, Christian life.

Meet Lauren and ask him your questions as part of our Living Books program. To learn more, drop by our Meet & Greet on Saturday, September 25, from 1:00-3:00PM.

Living Book: Anne Heidemann, Organic Gardener

My name is Anne Heidemann. I am an amateur gardener who has been growing vegetables, herbs, and perennials for about 3 years. I don't have any formal training but have gained most of my knowledge from gardening books found at the Canton Public Library — along with advice given to me by fellow enthusiasts. There are also many green thumbs in my family who have shared their experiences with me.

Meet Anne and ask her your questions as part of our Living Books program. To learn more, drop by our Meet & Greet on Saturday, September 25, from 1:00-3:00PM.

Pirate Politics

In 2006, a new political force emerged in Sweden: the Pirate Party, or Piratpartiet in Swedish. The party's platform focuses on copyright and patent issues, as well as personal privacy and government transparency. Unlike parties in the United States, the Swedish Pirate Party does not have a full platform of social and policy issues, instead sticking to its foundational principles.

People in the United States have attempted to form similar organizations, though the political structure of the U.S. is different.
Below are some books about copyright, patents, privacy, and government transparency, as well as some information about prominent third parties in American History:
