Usually, the second Sunday in September is Grandparents Day. But given all that grandparents contribute to families and society-at-large, why limit the tribute to just one day? Join us in celebrating Grandparents Week 2011, from September 12th through the 16th. If you're a grandparent, be sure that you and your grandkids visit Generations United's special site during this week to find fun and meaningful ways to celebrate. The site offers blogs, a peek at celebrities who were raised by their grandparents, social activities to do together, and special ways to thank grandparents.
Note: We meet the third Wednesday, November 16, this month.
The Canton Seniors Book Discussion group will meet one week earlier this month on Wednesday, November 16 from 2:00-3:00 PM in Canton Public Library's Group Study Room A. Copies of The Help will be distributed at the October 26th book discussion. After October 26 ask for a copy of The Help at the Adult Reference Desk.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett — Three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever change a town and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another.
Libby Fischer Hellmann, a Chicago-based author of crime novels will be conducting two fee-based workshops this Fall on how to write a crime novel. Ms. Hellmann has been twice-nominated for an Anthony Award and once for an Agatha.

Canton Seniors Book Discussion group will meet on Wednesday, September 28 from 2:00-3:00 PM in Canton Public Library's Group Study Room A. This month's reading selection is:
Water for Elephants: a novel by Sara Gruen — Surprising, poignant, and funny, Water for Elephants is that rare novel with a story so engrossing, one is reluctant to put it down; with characters so engaging, they continue to live long after the last page has been turned; with a world built of wonder, a world so real, one starts to breathe its air.
Copies of Water for Elephants will be available to pick up beginning Wednesday, August 24.
