How to Build a Birdhouse

On August 18 from 12:00-2:00 PM join Kyle Davison, local Eagle Scout-to-be, as he instructs on how to build birdhouses and creates a natural habitat around our library pond. Kyle will also share his knowledge of bat and butterfly houses as well as the local creatures that reside within them. The program will take place under the tents in the back of the library and many of the birdhouses will be hung around the library's pond to shelter our local flying critters. All construction materials will be provided. Children five-12 years old and their caretakers are welcome. One birdhouse kit per family. Registration by one family member only is required and begins July 25.

Find the Geocache

Gone are the days of the wrinkled map marked with an X but treasures can still be found using the modern-day method of geocaching. Like the old-fashioned treasure hunt, participants seek out hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS devices or smart phone applications, then report their experiences online. In fact, there are two active caches right here at the library (one inside and one outside)! According to Geocaching.com, there are 1,188,372 active caches and between 4-5 million geocachers worldwide. For more information on geocaching in Michigan, visit the MiGo website and look for a hunt in your area.
