Ever seen those ads for upside-down tomato growing contraptions? It turns out you don't need to spend a lot of money on one of those things - you can make your own from a shopping bag! Check out the online tutorial from Your Small Kitchen Garden website.
Get Creative @ Saving for College at the Canton Public Library, now through August 21. Just fill out the entry card (available when you sign up your child for the 2009 summer reading program) and return it to a library staff member. Six parents will win $1,500 toward their child's college education, and six libraries will each receive $1,000 for future programming. Additional prizes will also be awarded to entrants. Get Creative @ Saving for College is made possible by a partnership of the Library of Michigan Foundation, the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP), and the Michigan Education Trust (MET).
Your library would like to give back to you this summer! In honor of the Summer Reading theme, Be Creative @ Your Library, the Canton Public Library staff decided to make works of art for you to win. We've got quilters, knitters, woodworkers, photographers and many other creative people here. For a view of our craftsy items, check out our Flickr page.
