Going Green!
Join us Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM as we explore the act of Going Green! We will have the chance to learn about the plants that are all around us and get to plant a flower of your very own to take home and nurture. This program is open to kids in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade accompanied by a caregiver. See you there! Registration will begin April 26, 9:00 AM. Michigan Picture Books

Scholastic Storybook Treasures
Have you checked out the Scholastic Storybook Treasures series yet? These are short movies of your favorite picture books told in differening animation styles. Many have recieved the ALA Carnegie Medal for excellence in Children's video. Some DVDs in the series also include a "read-along" feature for beginning readers. It's an great choice if your looking to expand your child's exposure to literature. Some of our favorites:
The Pigeon finds a hot dog [videodisc]: and more stories by Mo Willems — Author Mo Willems voices the pigeon in the title story. Special features includes a read-along story and an interview with the author.
Tamil Storytime

- On June 7th the Family Storytime/ABC Activity Time session will be in collaboration with Starfish Family Services Program for parents and caregivers titled Word Play: Rhymes and Other Pre-Reading Activities. The workshop is for adults and Starfish brings along licensed day care providers to watch your children if you choose
- There will be no Activty time on June 8 (for a blood drive)
Family Storytime
Family Storytimes begin the week of April 30. These storytimes are designed for children ages 5 and under with a caregiver. Storytimes are held in the Community Room and do not require registration. Saturday sessions are in the Purple Room.

All About Bees
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a bee? How do they live? What do they do? Join us Thursday, April 12th from 3:00 to 4:00 PM where we will learn all about bees! Live bees will be present at the program! Registration begins online Thursday, March 29th. This program is for kids ages 6 years to 9 years and their caregiver. Benjamin Bear in Fuzzy Thinking
Benjamin Bear in Fuzzy thinking: a Toon book by Philippe Coudray — is a quick read with early reading level text. This short graphic novel is really great for kids in Kindergarten to Second grade. Each comic is a one page episode in Benjamin Bear's life with his animal friends and is sure to get some giggles out of the reader. Enjoy!

Target Family Reading: St. Patrick's Day Fun
Children, ages 4-9 with a caregiver, join us Tuesday, March 13 from 7:00-8:00 PM to celebrate all things green. We will sing some festive songs, share some lucky tales, create some golden crafts and enjoy some green treats. This St. Patrick's Day themed program is supported by Target and the Friends of the Canton Public Library and each family will receive a special St. Patrick's Day book to add to your home collection. Jan Berenstain Dies at Age 88
Jan and her husband Stan, who passed in 2005, authored well-loved children's books for over 50 years. Over 300 books have been published in 23 languages. This charming bear family touched the hearts of kids and parents, while at the same time addressing difficult issues that everyone faces in the process of growing up. Although Jan and Stan have passed, the Berenstain Bears family they created will live on.Dog Books
