ZooZical a Musical Story

Have you ever wondered what zoo animals do when the visitors go home? Do they go to sleep, eat lots of food, play games? Well the zoo animals of ZooZical decide to put on a musical after all their visitors go home. In their musical, they sing some classic songs, but in a new, zooified way. Check out ZooZical, and enjoy they amazing talents of the giraffes, lions, kangaroos and one very special hippo.

This may even inspire you to read about more talented animals!

Final Days to Check Out a Museum Adventure Pass

Museum Adventure Program passes will be available until September 23, 2011 to check out. Museums will accept passes until September 30, 2011.

The 2012 program will run from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

Family Storytime

Storytimes are half-hour programs of activities, songs and stories for children, ages 5 and under, with caregiver.
Program Date: Wednesday, September 7, 10:00-10:30 a.m.

Family Storytimes

Family Storytimes begin the week of September 12. These storytimes are designed for childrens ages 5 and under with a caregiver. Storytimes are held in the Community Room and do not require registration.
  • Mondays, 10:00-10:30AM and 1:00-1:30PM
  • Tuesdays, 7:00-7:30PM
  • Wednesdays, 10:00-10:30AM and 7:00-7:30PM
  • Thursdays, 10:00-10:30AM
  • Fridays, 10:00-10:30AM
  • Saturdays, 10:00-10:30AM

Farewell, Miss Kristen

It is with greatly mixed emotions that we bid a fond farewell to our Children's, Tween & Teen Services Program Specialist, Kristen Kostielney. Kristen will be leaving us in September to take a position as a head start teacher with the Campagna Center in Alexandria, Virginia. Please join us in celebrating the nearly 21 years Kristen has spent with CPL and wishing her all the best with a farewell reception on Thursday, September 15 from 5:00-6:30PM in the Purple Room.

Kristen's departure opens up a position here at the library and we are currently accepting applications for the Children's, Tween & Teen Services Program Specialist position.

Baby Storytime

Baby Storytime begins Tuesday, September 13, 2011. These storytimes are designed for babies up to 18 months. Register online today!

Baby Sign Language

Many parents teach signs to their young children before they are able to speak. If you'd like to try signing with your baby, we have materials that can help you get started. Below are some suggested books and DVDs that can be found in the Parenting section in the Children's Department.

Reading with Preschoolers

Starfish Family Services will present a workshop on the importance of reading with preschoolers.  Childcare will be provided by Starfish Family Services. Registration begins Tuesday, August 2.

Summer Celebration

Celebrate the end of summer with some fun in the sun. Activities include games, music, magic, farm animals and ice cream. All activities will take place behind the library.

Jazz for Kids

Looking for some music to help the kids chill out on these very hot days? Try some Jazz. Cool Jazz for Kids and Disney Songs the Satchmo Way are just two of the great selections of Jazz for kids. Classic crooners like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are some of the artists that will help your family beat the heat. More selections are available in the Children's Department. Stay cool!

ABC Activity Time

Drop-in play including sensory activities, puzzles and games for children, ages 5 and under, with caregiver.

Storytime at the Canton Farmer's Market

The library will host a storytime with crafts at the Canton Farmers Market on Sunday, July 10. The Canton Farmer's Market is open from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at Preservation Park.
Storytimes will be at 11:00AM and 1:00PM.

Here Come The Babies

Babies, birth-18 months with caregiver, may join us for this special program focusing on books, literacy and interactive play. Register online beginning June 21.
