Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them. Join us July 19th as we
celebrate Tanabata, a Japanese Star Festival. This festival celebrates the
once-a-year meeting of star lovers, the Ox Herder and the Weaver Princess, who
are separated by the Milky Way during the other 364 days of the year.
To help us celebrate, members of the Japan Society of Detroit Women's Club will present the Tanabata story using Kamishibai, a Japanese form of storytelling. We will also participate in the Tanabata custom of writing wishes on long strips of colorful paper and then tying them to tree branches in the hopes that they will come true. In addition children will have the opportunity to try on Yukatas or summer kimonos.
This event will take place Saturday July 19th at 11:00 am.
