Michigan Tax Amnesty In Effect Until June 30th

The State of Michigan is offering delinquent taxpayers the opportunity to pay past due state taxes and have penalty charges waived. Taxpayers who qualify would also avoid criminal prosecution by the Michigan Department of Treasury. Dave Richards, a library assistant and a freelance writer for the Eisner Award winning website, Comic Book Resources, moderates. Dave has completed an unpublished science fiction mystery novel and is currently writing a horror novel.

Park and Read

Just in time for summer vacation, Park & Read passes have arrived at the library. A joint venture of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Library of Michigan, the Park & Read program provides a free one-day vehicle permit to any Michigan State Park & Recreation Area. Like the popular Museum Adventure Pass program, the passes are "checked out" for seven days; you pick the day you want to use it. Park & Read runs through October 1, 2011. So visit the Canton Public Library for a pass and a great book to read.

Only One More Day of Tutoring!

Thursday, May 26th, from 6:008:00PM will be the last night (until next year) for the free tutoring with National Honor Society students. If you are interested in being tutored:

  • You must be in the third through twelfth grade
  • If you are under 7, your parent must remain with you
  • If you are under 12, NHS requires your parent must remain in the library
  • You must bring assignments, textbooks, calculators, pencils, and any other materials you need
